Hearing and Healthcare Ltd was founded in
1986. We currently screen over 15000 employees at over 350 companies
each year in one of our air-conditioned mobile hearing test units.
Screening audiometry is a
regularly undertaken hearing test at the workplace. It checks
the effectiveness of the noise control measures undertaken by
the company. In April 2006, screening audiometry became mandatory
at intervals of 3 years (sometimes more often) for all UK employees
exposed to levels of 85dB(A) on a daily basis. This follows implementation
of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
The test result, a pure-tone audiogram, is
a highly repeatable exact reading of the hearing thresholds by
frequency, categorised to the new (2005) HSE recommended guideline.
We administer a questionnaire and visually inspect the ears. Hearing
tests are carried out during working hours, with minimal disruption,
in a professional manner and at a competitive, all-inclusive rate.
In addition we can provide spirometry screening
(lung function tests).
In many cases we cost-efficiently combine
audiometry with a Risk Assessment for Noise,
another new requirement under the 2005 Regulations.
